About Nanny Elyse
Elyse Mims, or Grandma Lyse as her grandkids call her, started being an on call Nanny as a way to offer her services to kids without a regular sitter or local grandmother to care for them when parents weren't around. As a mother of four (3 natural and a stepson) and young grandmother of three (I am not quite 50), Elyse offers last minute childcare solutions for families in need.
I believe being a Nanny is a very important role, it requires specials skills and a true passion for working with children. I am a single mother who moved to Eureka Springs in May 2006; my youngest child will be going off to College in fall of 2010. I have been a professional Nanny/daycare provider for 11 years now and have been a parent for 29 years; I am the oldest of 5 and started babysitting at age 13. Before starting my career in childcare I worked in the legal field for just over 12 1/2 years... this included being a Private Process Server and an Advocate for abused children in the Baltimore courts.
I am an independent member of the International Nanny Association and continue taking childcare classes yearly: some of what I have been certified in are Infant Safety, Abuse and Neglect, Discipline in Child Care, Adult-Infant-Child CPR/FIRST AID/AED, Child Growth and Development, Music & Movement and have 7 years of Postpartum doula training/experience.
